About Us
The Collection. The Deerfield Public Library lends books, audiobooks, CDs, DVDs, and video games over 300,000 times each year. Anyone may access the Library's online catalog 24 hours a day to search the library's holdings, renew items, request or cancel holds, and check the status of his or her account.
Computers. The library provides free Internet access and Microsoft Office programs on computers throughout the building. Fast, free wireless Internet service is available in the library for those with laptop computers. The library's catalog and database collections are always available at http://www.deerfieldlibrary.org/. The web site provides up-to-date information about the library's collections, services and programs.
Online Databases. In addition to magazines and newspapers, the Library subscribes to many useful online databases (featuring business, medicine, literature, genealogy and general interest periodicals). These databases may be used free of charge within the library or from home with a Deerfield Public Library card.
Programs. The Deerfield Public Library offers free cultural, educational, and recreational programs throughout the year. Children and families enjoy a variety of storytimes, crafts, and special performances. Adult programs include book discussions, lectures, and performances.
Staff and Services. Librarians and staff specially trained in reference, readers' advisory and youth services are available to assist patrons in person, over the phone, or via the Internet during all hours of operation. Patrons requiring special assistance may wish to use the library's large print collection, audiobooks, magnifying machine, home delivery service, or TTY hearing impaired phone service.
Friends. The Friends of the Deerfield Public Library work together to encourage the community to have an increased understanding of and appreciation for the materials and services available from the Library; to supplement Library services, programs and materials in accordance with the Library's policies and needs; and to provide fundraising and advocacy for the Library. Anyone interested in more information about the Friends should call 847-945-3311 ext. 37 or email friends@deerfieldlibrary.org.
