And the winners are…

The winners of the fourth annual Deerfield Public Library Tournament of Books have been determined! As you know, the winning fiction/graphic novel was Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. The boy-wizard-all-grown-up was battling your favorite Early Reader duo, Elephant & Piggie, in We Are in a Book! No buzzer beater here, folks: more than 300 votes separated the two contestants in this final round. And the Youth champion is…HARRY POTTER AND THE CURSED CHILD! Although we didn’t make our goal of 7,000 votes for this year’s Tournament, like many fine Chicago sports teams, we say, “Wait until next year!”

Over in the Teen bracket, the race was much closer between Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children and Catching Fire. Only 36 votes separated those two titles. By that narrow margin, MISS PEREGRINE’S HOME FOR PECULIAR CHILDREN has been crowned your Teen champion!

Thanks to everyone who voted, whether it was in the Library or online. We especially appreciate the support of the DPS 109 LMC Directors who helped our young patrons participate in the voting! We’re already looking forward to next year’s Tournament, where we will unveil some exciting changes.
