At a very young age, I learned that the power to transform my world could be found within the pages of a book. My mom was a children’s librarian, and she instilled in me a strong desire to learn and a love of reading. One of the most life-altering books that I read as a child was The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank. It was a book that I read over and over again, and one that has stuck with me my whole life. During a recent trip to Europe, my husband and I were lucky enough to visit the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam and tour the Secret Annex. It was truly one of the most profound and emotional experiences of my life.
I love stories that can transport me to new and interesting worlds. My favorite books are filled with strongly-developed characters, adventure, dark-humor, whimsy, and magic. Lots of magic! My favorite genres would include magical realism, fantasy, horror, comedic nonfiction, and literary fiction.
