Wanted: Teen Volunteers for Summer Programming!

We want YOU! Are you looking for something to do this summer? Do you need community service hours? Do you love your library? Are you going into seventh grade in the fall or between 13 and 17 years old? You are welcome to fill out an application and become a S*T*A*R* Volunteer for the library.

This year all volunteer work will be virtual. We have several different opportunities where you can volunteer and use your skills, gain mentoring experience, and be responsible for managing deadlines.

S*T*A*R* Volunteer

This summer being a S*T*A*R* Volunteer is a little different than in past summers. This year we are looking for volunteers who have writing, art, or social media skills. Some of the work could include writing book reviews or possible blog pieces for the community, making art backdrops and posters for storytimes and programs, or putting together kits for Library programs.

If this appeals to you, pick up an application at the library, at your school, or print out an application and return it to the Youth Services desk no later than Monday, May 3  at 6 p.m. with a parent/guardian’s signature.

Book Buddy Program

As a Book Buddy, you will mentor a younger child, virtually, while reading out loud together, discussing the book, and participating in activities each week. Each session is forty-five minutes long for four weeks, and you must be able to attend all four sessions. It’s an awesome opportunity to mentor and pass on your love of reading to a younger reader!

Ready to become a Book Buddy? Print out an application and return it to the Youth Services desk no later than Monday, May 3 at 6 p.m. with a parent/guardian’s signature.
