Summer Reading Program Volunteers — June 6 through August 9, 2026

Believe it or not, summer is fast approaching, and the Deerfield Public Library is looking for some stellar teen volunteers for our Strive to Volunteer program! The program goes from June 6 through August 9; training sessions will be held between Friday, May 29 – Wednesday, June 3.

We will be taking applications starting Wednesday, April 1, until Sunday, May 17, at 5 p.m.; applications received after the deadline will not be considered.

We are looking for teens who will be going into 7th – 12th Grade in the fall of 2026, interested in the following opportunities:

  • SRP Table (required): SRP table volunteers will work 2-hour shifts at our summer reading sign-up table and have opportunities to: write a book review, make a book list, design a program poster, and more! Volunteers may be asked to help with organization and other tasks during slower times at the table.
  • Program Volunteers (optional): Program volunteers will help Youth Services staff in running programs, which include: prepping supplies, setting up the room, assisting attendees throughout the program, and helping to clean up after. A list of programs looking for volunteer help will be sent out after training.

If you are interested but want to learn more, email strive@deerfieldlibrary.org or attend one of our information sessions on Monday, April 6 (5:30-6:00 PM or 7:30-8:00 PM).
