What is Snapchat?

Snapchat is an engaging multimedia social app that is wildly popular among teens and young adults, but it’s gaining popularity among other age demographics as well. Snapchat allows users to share videos and photos called Snaps, which can be customized with text, stickers, and more. Snaps can be sent to individual users, and disappear after being opened. Users can also add Snaps to their Stories for any friends or followers to see for 24 hours.

Individual users on Snapchat use the app in two different ways: to interact with friends and to view content from business and creators.

Organizations, businesses, content creators, and, yes, libraries are on Snapchat too! They use the app to show what is happening that day on their Stories. On our Snapchat Story, you can see what’s going on at the library and more!

If you are new to Snapchat, no worries. When you start your account, Snapchat will send you an introduction video to help you learn. The app will also show you how to use each of its features as you use Snapchat.
