Talking Fire Safety with Ray Larson in Latest Podcast

For our third episode of the Deerfield Public Library Podcast, we interviewed Ray Larson, Deputy Chief of the Deerfield Bannockburn Fire District. He discusses the path to becoming a firefighter, fire and life safety tips, when to call 911, and some of the unusual situations they’ve responded to.  If you have kids who want to be firefighters, are a resident of Deerfield or Bannockburn, or just want to learn how to keep you and your family safe–you are sure to learn something important. If you want to go deeper into the world of the local fire department, we recommend the department’s Facebook page for news updates and more safety tips.

Bookending the conversation, Library Director Amy Falasz-Peterson tells us about the Library Board’s new Giving Tree project honoring individuals and organizations who’ve made significant, impactful service to the library. A reception honoring the first group of honorees will be held on Thursday, March 9 from 5:00 – 6:30 p.m. in the Library’s front lobby and is open to the public.

Finally, Multimedia Librarian Ted Gray recommends two TV shows on the endlessly fascinating story of O.J. Simpson — Emmy winner American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson and recent Oscar winner for Best Documentary, O.J.: Made in America.

We hope you enjoy episode three with Ray Larson! Each month we’ll be releasing an episode featuring a conversation with a dynamic Deerfield leader. Learn more about the podcast on our podcast page.
