Youth Grab & Go: Paper Plate Suncatcher

Create a beautiful suncatcher for your favorite sunny spot in your home! Kits are available while supplies last outside in the green creation station and inside the Library in the Youth Services Department.

Instructions:

  • Look at your tissue paper and THINK about a design that you’d like to make. You can make an actual image or a pretty design…whatever you like! Will you make a nature scene? A magical creature? A dinosaur? A cool geometric pattern?
  • Tear or cut the tissue paper into smaller pieces. These pieces will make your suncatcher design, like a mosaic.
  • Peel the backing off ONE piece of the laminator sheet. Place it behind the paper plate with the sticky side facing up into the opening.
  • Press your tissue paper pieces onto the sticky sheet in the design you’ve chosen. ** Be sure that the TOP of your design is where the holes are! **
  • Peel the backing off of the second piece of laminator sheet. Place it on top of your suncatcher with the sticky side facing down. This will make a sandwich with the tissue paper in the middle! Press hard on the two laminator sheets to make them stick to each other.
  • Trim off any excess from the sticky sheets.
  • Use the chenille stem to create a hanger for your suncatcher.
