Ready, Set, Vote! Get Information on Voting

Less than a month away, the election is right around the corner. Voting can be confusing–from the different ways to vote to understanding what’s on your ballot. That’s why we have created a special voting resource page with all the information you need to make sure voting goes as smoothly as possible.

Go to the voting resource page

The first step is to ensure that you are registered to vote. If you are not registered, we have instructions on how and when to register for both Lake and Cook counties. Once you have registered, you can vote either by mail, early in-person, or in-person on election day. Our page provides information on all of the voting options, as well as the dropbox locations for ballots if you choose to vote by mail and do not want to send your ballot through the postal system. If you choose to vote by mail, it is a good idea to confirm the status of your ballot and ensure that it was accepted. Links for confirming your ballot status are also provided for both counties.

You will also find a list of the candidates that will appear on your ballot, with links to their web pages (if available). We have included a number of non-partisan fact-checking sites that investigate candidates’ claims, as well as claims surrounding mail-in voter fraud, and links for information about campaign finance contributions. If you have any questions or issues voting, links to the appropriate government websites are also included.

If you have any questions about how, when, or where to vote, the Adult Services department is happy to help answer your questions. Happy voting!
